April Showers!

April is here and partially over.  Wow.  Before we know it we will be saying goodbye for now.  I can't believe how quickly this school year has gone.  I trust you are all enjoying every moment because they go by so fast!  It was nice to talk with all of you at conferences.  I am thankful that you could make the time to come in and let me crow about the growth your children have made.  I am so honored to have had the time to grow with them.  Thank you.

The following gives you an update of what is going on in the classroom:

Wednesday, April 18: 3s:Today is our Nature Walk at the Molalla River State Park.  (Wear your red shirts!)  We will leave school at 10:15 am.  We will eat our snack at the park.  Please send your child to school with a snack, boots, coats, hats and all the accessories needed for a walk in the park.  If the weather is rainy we will stay at school until 10:45 am.  School will end at the park at 11:40 am.  If it is really nasty we will talk about postponing until Friday.  I will keep you updated.  (Just think happy, sunny thoughts.)  4s: Today we will learn about birds and talk more about ponds.  We'll make birds and nests to play with in the loft.

Friday, April 20: 3s: We will finish our race car unit  from last week that we had to post pone because of rain.  The children will lace the steering wheels they have made and paint a race car.  When we go outside we will race around the track!  Should be lots of fun.  If the Nature Walk was postponed we will go to the park today4s: We will have Outdoor School today at the Molalla River State Park.  School will start at the park and end at the park.  (Wear your red shirts!)  The children will visit 4 stations while learning about ponds, plants/trees, birds, and they will run around an obstacle course.  We will eat a snack and enjoy the out-of-doors.  Please bring your child to Molalla River State Park at 1:00 pm with a snack, boots, hats, coats and all the accessories one needs for a day in the woods.  If the weather is especially inclement we will talk about postponing to another day.  I will keep you updated.

Monday, April 23: This week we will talk about being members of a team and how to be a friend to the Earth through the stories of Elmer the elephant.  We will clean up our outdoor area and plant a little flower bed in the strip outside the classroom.  If you would like to bring a flower or plant to donate to our flower bed we would be so appreciative.  Please bring it to our classroom by the start of class on Wednesday, April 25.

Wednesday, April 25: 3s: We will talk about rainbows and taking care of the Earth.  We will think about ways to help each other.  If you would like to bring a flower or plant to donate to the flower bed outside of our classroom you could bring it to class today or by the start of class on Friday, April 27.  4s: Today we will make a community elephant, talk about patterns, clean and prepare the flower bed, and plant our garden.

Friday, April 27: 3s: Today is class picture day!  Make sure to wear your red shirt.  (If you don't have one talk to Teacher Anne asap.)  Hopefully it will be nice enough to have these taken outside.  We will plant our flowers today and make elephant ears.  4s: Class pictures will happen today.  Be certain to wear your red shirt.  (If you don't have one let me know.) We will have these taken outside if we can.  We will end our Elmer unit today by having an Elephant's Day Parade!  We will make elephant ears to wear and we will use instruments to give us some cadence.  Hopefully we won't need umbrellas too, but we will have our parade rain or shine.  Send coats and boots!  :)

Thanks again for letting me be a part of your child's life.  I adore each and every one of them and we are having so much fun.  Enjoy your time with them as well...it'll be gone in a blink.  Cooperatively, Anne.
